The Sophistry

You’d hang yourself before you’d reveal who you are. You’ll be anybody but yourself.
You’re on the ground and shes up there, but you can feel the air slowly squeezing out of your lungs.
So exposed, everyone looking up at you. The heat is in your face, their eyes ready to cut and judge, will you abandon you again?
Or can you slow down? Acclimate or she’ll decimate you with her casual tone again.
Her legs twitching as the edges fade to black, all she could think about is how she deserved her time back.
And forth she would go, not realizing her foe was within.
But his chuckle rang in her ears and stung her cheeks, slicing so cleanly she barely noticed the cut to her core.
Silent and still now, there was finally peace.
Above is the original writing I did, that I pulled from for this poem. I believe there might have been another writing that I pulled from as well, but I can't seem to find it, so maybe I'm crazy. This was one of the poems that, as it obviously was inspired from a short writing, I filled in a lot of it as I was writing. The process I use to put my own words to some of my favorite songs is.... maybe not even really a process at all? Its a hobby so I haven't taken a class or explored legitimate song writing or anything. I play the same song over and over again, often times the same line over and over again, and I find where my words fit. When I get stuck or don't have words to fit there, I use ol' trusty. A rhyming website. Yup. I take the word I want to rhyme with, plug it in to this website, and it gives me words and phrases that rhyme. Its been one of the most interesting ways to find new words and phrases I don't know, or hadn't thought of using. Anyways, a little peek into my unprofessional process.
The Prophecy
It read like a novel
I tried to dodge em, but the shots turned fatal.
Oh, they were breaking in.
Sent to a place they call prison,
I was versed on my retention,
Oh, keep your judgment.
Who was the real foe,
They left you at the end of this rope,
You'd hang yourself you once said,
I can't show them who I am so instead,
Please let the lesson be, to stop the sophistry,
As I learn how you influenced me to turn on me,
Creating harmony,
What do I have to cling to,
So they know I'll no longer do, their sophistry?
Robbed since the cradle,
Each mask I wore became unstable,
Oh, they could tell again.
Let us not pretend, you preferred me to be me in the end,
Oh, let the games begin.
Please, let the lesson be,
To stop the sophistry,
It wasn't bloody,
As you're commands crumpled my integrity,
Your love was the fee,
What do I have to cling to,
So they know I'll no longer do, their sophistry?
And I sound so indifferent,
Reeling from your pointed plots as they deepen.
I gave up who I was like a fool,
What a foul way the kingdom then ruled.
And I became unable,
Lathered in your woven lies, life became a fable.
Exposed to who I was to the fates,
The heat in my face made me
Fade to Gray,
I made my way down to the gates, but I was too late.
You have to acclimate or,
She'll decimate you,
With her casual tone as she says,
I know I can’t stay.
Please, let the lesson be,
To stop the sophistry,
As I learn how you influenced me to turn on me,
Creating harmony,
What do I have to cling to,
So they know I'll no longer do, their sophistry?
What do I have to cling to,
To stop the sophistry?
It read like a novel,
I tried to dodge em, but the shots turned fatal,
Oh, they were breaking in.
Who was the real foe,
They left you at the end of this rope.
You'd hang yourself you once said,
I can't show them who I am so instead,
Please.
I hope you enjoyed it and if not then fuck you.
